VisualRoute:
VisualRoute is a visual, fast, and integrated ping, whois,
and traceroute program that automatically analyzes connectivity
problems, displaying the results on a World map.
A great tool to locate and identify Internet abusers.

Installation:
Change to the directory in which you wish to create the VisualRoute directory
hierarchy. The file vr.tar.Z or vr.tar.gz
(whichever file you have chosen to download) must be placed into this directory (for simplicity).
- Login as root.
- Uncompress or gunzip the file vr.tar.Z:-
# gunzip vr.tar
- Untar the file vr.tar:-
# tar -xf vr.tar
By installing and running VisualRoute, you agree to the terms and conditions of the
VisualRoute License Agreement.
To uninstall, you can remove the complete contents of the vr directory you have just Untar-ed.
Running VisualRoute:
- Change to the directory 'vr' in the just created hierarachy.
- Make sure the current directory ('.') is in the PATH environment variable.
# PATH=$PATH:.; export PATH
- There are two ways to start VisualRoute. From the vr directory enter the command:
# java vr
If you have multiple versions of Java, you must make sure that you execute the correct version to start VisualRoute.
- Or, you may also execute the Java Runtime Envrionment directly.
From the vr directory, enter the command:
# jre -cp . vr

Program Requirements:
Obtain and Install a Java Virtual Machine for you Unix/Linux type.
(Java Vendors Supported)
VisualRoute is supported on the following Unix/Linux platform types:-
- Linux x86 distributions:- namely RedHat 8.0, SuSE 7.3 and Mandrake 8.1. Other distributions might work but have not been verified. Please contact us for other varieties you might want to use.
- FreeBSD Unix:- 4.2-RELEASE and above.
- Solaris Sparc 2.6 and above.
Deamon/Service Requirements:
To run VisualRoute as a deamon/service please refer to the UnixService.sh shell script, wherein three environment variables
will need to be reviewed and set. Please also note that this facility will require the installation of the Xvfb process. If you

Distribution:
VisualRoute is Shareware (15-day trial). The installation
vr.tar is freely distributable, provided that it
is not modified in any way.
