The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the Core service (Coreservice.exe) when handling "LOGON" requests. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long string sent to TCP port 23. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.06. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Update to version 1.14.
