The vulnerability is caused due to MODx allowing users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing proper validity checks to verify the requests. This can be exploited to e.g. create an user when a logged-in administrator visits a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires the "HTTP_MODAUTH" parameter or "modAuth" header to be set to the valid $site_id that is specific for the respective application deployment. The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.0.8-pl. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not browse untrusted sites or follow untrusted links while being logged-in to the application.
