The vulnerability is caused due to an error in kadmind when processing certain packets. This can be exploited to cause the process to free an invalid memory pointer and crash the daemon via a packet sent to TCP port 749. The vulnerability is confirmed in version krb5-1.9. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to trusted hosts only (e.g. via network access control lists).
