Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires multiple server instances to be configured to run under different unprivileged users. 3) An error due to certain scripts incorrectly setting the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to contain an empty path can be exploited to gain escalated privileges by e.g. tricking a user into running the script in a directory containing a malicious library.
