The weakness is caused due to the GNOME Display Manager invoking the "PostLogin" script with an incorrect username, which results in e.g. the $USER, $USERNAME, and $LOGNAME variables being assigned a wrong value (e.g. "gdm" instead of the username of the user who just logged in). Note: This only affects deployments where the "PostLogin" script relies on the correctness of e.g. the $USER, $USERNAME, and $LOGNAME variables (the default "PostLogin" script does not contain any functionality). SOLUTION: Update to version 2.30.0. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Reported by ericlesoll in a GNOME bug.
