DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been discovered in Pango, which can be exploited
by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and
potentially compromise an application using the library.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the
"pango_ft2_font_render_box_glyph()" function in
pango/pangoft2-render.c. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based
buffer overflow by e.g. tricking an application using the library to
use a specially crafted font to render text via Pango's FreeType2
backend.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.28.3. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not use the library to render text using untrusted font files.
