DESCRIPTION:
Stefano Di Paola has reported a security issue in Liferay Portal,
which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive
information.

The security issue is caused due to the application disclosing
certain information via the JSON service. This can be exploited to
e.g. disclose administrator's password hash via the "getRoleUsers"
method.

Successful exploitation requires that the JSON service is enabled
(not enabled by default in versions 4.3.2 and above).

The security issue is reported in version 4.x and 5.x. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict access to the JSON service to trusted users only.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Stefano Di Paola, Minded Security.
