The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the "/opt/novell/iprint/bin/ipsmd" component in the processing of LPR opcode 0x01 packet types. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by sending specially crafted packets to an affected system. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. SOLUTION: Restrict access to the affected service.
