TITLE:
HP-UX NFS/ONCplus Unintentional NFS Configuration Weakness

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA39111

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/39111/

DESCRIPTION:
A weakness has been reported in HP-UX, which can be exploited by
malicious people to potentially bypass certain security
restrictions.

The installation of the ONCplus package sets the "NFS_SERVER"
configuration option even when originally disabled. This can
potentially result in unintentionally enabling NFS.

The weakness is reported in HP-UX B.11.31 running NFS/ONCplus version
B.11.31_08 or prior.

SOLUTION:
Install ONCplus_B.11.31.09.depot or subsequent. Check the validity of
the "NFS_SERVER" and "NFS_CLIENT" options in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Reported by the vendor.
