The security issue is caused due to an error while enforcing host access restrictions using the CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing) notation "/0". This can be exploited to potentially bypass "permit=" and "deny=" rules, and access a server from normally restricted hosts. The security issue is reported in Asterisk Open Source 1.6.x (all 1.6.0, 1.6.1, and 1.6.2 releases). SOLUTION: Update to version 1.6.0.25, 1.6.1.17, or 1.6.2.5.
