The vulnerability is caused due to an use-after-free error within the "msn_slplink_process_msg()" function in libpurple/protocols/msnp9/slplink.c while processing MSN P2P file transfer requests. This can be exploited to dereference previously freed memory by tricking a user into accepting a file having a specially crafted filename. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in versions 2.4.1 and 2.4.2. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not accept file transfer requests from untrusted people.
