DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in MySQL, which can be exploited by
malicious users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to an assertion error within the
InnoDB engine and can be exploited to crash the database server via
certain "CONTAINS" statements.

Successful exploitation requires "ALTER" privileges.

The vulnerability is reported in version 5.1.17, 5.0.44, and 4.1.20.
Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Grant only trusted users access with "ALTER" privileges to affected
systems.

Fixes for MySQL 5.x are reportedly available in the InnoDB
repository.
