The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the parsing of M3U playlists containing an overly long file name (greater than 500 bytes). This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted M3U file. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 3.3.0.5. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not load playlists from untrusted sources.
