---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardcore Disassembler / Reverse Engineer Reversing must be a passion as your skills will be challenged on a daily basis and you will be working several hours everyday in IDA, Ollydbg, and with BinDiff. Often, it is also required that you write a PoC or even a working exploit to prove that an issue is exploitable. http://secunia.com/hardcore_disassembler_and_reverse_engineer/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: sipXtapi "CSeq" Field Buffer Overflow Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA20997 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/20997/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: System access WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: sipXtapi http://secunia.com/product/10952/ DESCRIPTION: Michael Thumann has reported a vulnerability in sipXtapi, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error when parsing the "CSeq" field and can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via a packet with an overly long "CSeq" field (larger than 24 bytes). Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability has been reported in all versions compiled using a codebase from before March 24th, 2006. SOLUTION: The vulnerability has been fixed in the SVN repository.
