TITLE: ADOdb Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18928 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18928/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: ADOdb 4.x http://secunia.com/product/6701/ DESCRIPTION: James Bercegay has reported some vulnerabilities in ADOdb, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. 1) Input passed to the "next_page" parameter in adodb-pager.inc.php isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. 2) Unsafe use of PHP_SELF in adodb-pager.inc.php can be exploited to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 4.71. Prior versions may also be affected. Note: Some unspecified input validation issues have also been reported in various performance scripts such as adodb-perf.inc.php and perf-oci8.inc.php. However, granting access to these scripts reportedly already assumes that the user is permitted to execute SQL statements in the system. SOLUTION: A fixed version will reportedly be released by the vendor. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: James Bercegay, GulfTech Security Research Team.
