Secunia hat zwei freie Stellen als Junior und Senior Spezialist in IT- Sicherheit: http://secunia.com/secunia_vacancies/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: Firefox Multiple Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA16043 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/16043/ CRITICAL: Highly critical IMPACT: Security Bypass, Cross Site Scripting, System access WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Mozilla Firefox 0.x http://secunia.com/product/3256/ Mozilla Firefox 1.x http://secunia.com/product/4227/ DESCRIPTION: Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Firefox, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions, conduct cross-site scripting attacks, and compromise a user's system. 1) An error where untrusted events generated by web content are delivered to the browser user interface has various impacts. This is related to vulnerability #1 in: SA14938 2) Scripts in XBL controls can be executed even when JavaScript has been disabled. 3) The image URL is not properly verified before being used with the "Set As Wallpaper" option. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code by tricking a user into setting an image with a specially crafted "javascript:" URL as the wallpaper. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. NOTE: This vulnerability only affects versions 1.0.3 and 1.0.4. 4) An error, where the callback function of the "InstallTrigger.install()" function is not properly cleared before navigating to a new site, can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session in context of an arbitrary site. Successful exploitation requires that the malicious web site has been added to the install whitelist. 5) An error in the handling of "data:" URIs originating from the sidebar can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session in context of an arbitrary site. 6) An input validation error in the handling of unexpected JavaScript objects passed to the "InstallVersion.compareTo()" function may be exploited to execute arbitrary code. 7) External applications can open "javascript:" URIs in the browser, which is executed in context of the previous opened URL. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session in context of an arbitrary site or execute arbitrary script code with escalated privileges via an external application (e.g. Flash or QuickTime). 8) An error in the handling of DOM node names with different namespaces can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code with escalated privileges via a specially crafted XHTML document. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. 9) An error caused due to insecure cloning of base objects can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code with escalated privileges.
