Vacant positions at Secunia: http://secunia.com/secunia_vacancies/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: PostNuke Cross-Site Scripting and SQL Injection Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA14868 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/14868/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data, Exposure of system information WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: PostNuke 0.x http://secunia.com/product/350/ DESCRIPTION: Diabolic Crab has reported some vulnerabilities in PostNuke, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks. 1) Input passed to the "module" parameter in "admin.php" and the "op" parameter in "user.php" is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of a vulnerable site. 2) Input passed to the "sid" parameter isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code. Example: http://[victim]/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=[code]&POSTNUKESID=[id] It is also possible to disclose the full installation path via some invalid input. The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 0.760-rc3. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
